105mm Films

A Brief History

I like to make movies.

Since my teens, I've been dreaming of making movies - it wasn't until I was in my mid-20s that the technology had become so simplified that almost anyone could. I'm something of a wimp, in that aspect - other people got their start in the days where you were hand-splicing frames of 8mm film together and using your friends from the neighborhood as your cast (this is how Steven Spielberg got his start).

From the beginning, I found that the process has been pretty simple and fun. James Cameron said, "I think the most important thing if you're an aspiring film-maker is to get rid of the 'aspiring'... You shoot it, you put your name on it, you're a film-maker. Everything after that, you're just negotiating your budget."  As Mr. Cameron started out life as a plumber, I never worried that my lack of formal education in this area meant I could not try.

If you're interested in making movies - check this page out. ?It's "Robert Rodriguez's 10 Minute Film School".

As you'll note below - I shot three movies on my own in a very low-tech format, using nothing more than my digital camera and Windows Movie Maker. The more I do, the more I learn - I have been having fun along the way. Everything should make you that happy.

This area of my web page chronicles that interest - this is my way of sharing the journey.
